The Finest House in Ekkerøy is Available This July
Håkonhuset, the newest addition to Ekker Island Arctic Lodge, is available on selected dates this July.

Welcome to Ekkerøy
Located just outside Vadsø, Ekkerøy is one of Finnmark's oldest fishing villages.
Surrounded by the Varanger Fjord and home to one of Norway's most important bird reserves, the peninsula offers spectacular nature in every direction.
Varangerhalvøya National Park is also within easy reach, making Ekkerøy an ideal base for exploring this remarkable corner of Northern Norway.
A Fully Renovated Nordic Home
Over the past year, they've renovated Håkonhuset while preserving the character of the original Finnmark house.
The result is a warm and inviting home with modern bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, elegant living spaces, and interiors inspired by the surrounding landscape.
Every room enjoys views to the sea and Varanger Fjord, bringing the scenery right into the house.
The master bedroom features a brand-new 180 cm Hästens bed, which can also be configured as twin beds. An additional bedroom with a single bed makes the house ideal for couples, small families, or friends travelling together.
Make the most of your stay with one of our private experiences. Join a wildlife safari by boat in search of whales, seabirds, and other Arctic wildlife, or head out on a king crab and fishing safari by boat before preparing your catch together back at the harbour. Explore the dramatic landscapes of Varangerhalvøya National Park on a guided hike through Komagdalen, or enjoy a private beer tasting with the local brewery in the comfort of Håkonhuse.
If you want to experience Northern Norway beyond the ordinary, these experiences come highly recommended.
The lodge is typically offered on a self-catering basis. However, private catering by our Arctic Chef can be arranged throughout your stay or for selected meals and occasions.

The easiest way to reach Ekkerøy is by flying to Kirkenes or Vadsø. We recommend renting a car, but as always, Journeys can arrange every part of your trip, making your journey effortless from start to finish.
